CoRE Letter to regional cricket boards on racism in cricket

Last week the chair of the Bristol Commission on Race Equality (CoRE), Museji Ahmed Takolia CBE, circulated a letter to the region's cricket boards in the aftermath of the high-profile cases of racism brought against Yorkshire County Cricket Club and later at Essex County Cricket Club by professional cricketers of Asian heritage.

The brave testimony of Azeem Rafiq to parliamentarians is a once in a lifetime opportunity to take stock, save what is best about this great sport and recognise that in order to progress locally, nationally and internationally, we need to value diversity and make the game’s culture inclusive. The prevailing culture is clearly rotten and hindering the best talent from coming into and progressing through to the highest levels of the sport.

This initial letter is sent in the spirit of working together towards achieving race equity and inclusion in cricket and we are awaiting response from the boards, and you can read it below:
